Ryan Guthrie

Ryan Guthrie is the primary Singer and Song Writer in Cold Hill. He has strong vocals and a rhythmic guitar style combined with Allman Brother's Bluesy Lead tone. Ryan has a knack for writing catchy melodies, interesting instrumental hooks, and modern themed lyrics. His influences are Keller Williams and Warren Haynes among others. Ryan also plays lead guitar and sings lead vocals in The Mountain Jam Band, an Allman Brothers Tribute.

Josh Kessler

Over thirty years of playing guitar for various bands has brought Josh Kessler many rewards and friendships. As a founding member of Montclair, NJ’s Watching Mountain Riders, Josh’s dedication to the music of the Grateful Dead grew, gaining him a reputation as one of the scene’s leading jam guitarists. In 2017 he was invited to join the top Grateful Dead tribute band in New Jersey, This Old Engine, whose large and growing fan base has launched the act into a regional must-see band. In 2021 Josh began a new creative collaboration with original songwriter Ryan Guthrie to form Cold Hill, which had its national debut opening Michael Arnone’s 2022 Crawfish Festival.

Rob Vanaria

Rob Vanaria is the most geographically distant part of the Cold Hill project. Hailing from the cold distant reaches of far northern Morris County, Rob began his musical journey at age 6 playing marches on piano for assemblies of catholic school kids, and later as a teen entertaining drunken dental students with holiday favorites. From Montville by way of Kalamazoo, Rob is also a founding member emeritus of Cold Hill.

Karen Rosen

Karen grew up in Glasgow, Scotland, surrounded by a music-loving family. Following a period of international travel, she landed in New Jersey in 1998. Karen is excited to be one of the most recent additions to Cold Hill, joining as a lead and back up vocalist in 2021. Karen is passionate about music and performs regularly with local bands covering a variety of musical genres at venues and events including: The Mayo Performing Arts Center, (MPAC); South Orange Performing Arts Center, (SOPAC); The Bickford Theater; ‘AddamsFest’;‘Maplewoodstock’; ‘The Bitter End’, NYC. As a practicing Art Therapist, Karen believes whole-heartedly in the healing power of art and music. Karen utilizes the arts in her fundraising work for Breast Cancer charities, most recently with her creation and facilitation of ‘NJ Breastfest’, an annual NJ music festival.

Marc Kaufman

Marc is the percussionist in Cold Hill. Marc is like a Hollywood script doctor. We give him an original piece of completed art, and he continually shows us how to elevate. Sometimes the soothing sound of the shaker binds the sound waves that are looking to be connected. Or the mallets on congas to bring the band into seance. High end triangle taps are like pixy dust and perfectly aligned whistle blow brings spontaneity and madness to the sound waves.

Dominick Aluotto

Dominick comes from a diverse musical background playing various generes. His farther introduced him to guitar at a young age and they have bonded over their love for music ever since. He started playing drums in his teens and shifted his focus to heavier music and spent some time on tour with a hardcore band for a few years. Dominick’s musical taste may be all over the place, but he has experience playing just about every type of music and brings a unique sound that drives the rhythm section for Cold Hill.

Joe Foster

Joseph Foster was born into foster care. He was never fortunate enough to meet his maternal parents. At 18 years old, after finishing high school, he was released into the wild. A world in which he never felt completely part of. There is only one pursuit that keeps him a productive member of this wretched society…..Heavy Bass Tones.
